Thought for
the day TM Sakaki
Among the newspaper articles covering mostly the
September 11th in this
week, I found an intriguing and heart-warming article,
which is nothing to
do with the September 11th, but it has somehow caught my
eyes. I would like
to share it with you.
Wild male
chimpanzees, especially during season, when they want female
chimpanzees to
draw their attention, the male chimpanzees steel papaya or
banana even from
human farming fields and present the stolen fruits to the
females. This
performance was first found in primates except men.
It is, I
guess, still an imaginary world how much chimpanzees can
communicate by
spoken language. Thus, it is a definitely distinct
differentiator of men from
other primates that we can communicate by
language even beyond countries,
race, or continents.
English is a school subject we have been
learning since primary school or
junior high school, but it is a still
eternal subject to learn. That is why
we are here and enjoy language without
papaya and banana.
